The Sony TC-645 was introduced in the early 1970s as part of Sony’s growing reel-to-reel lineup, designed to bring studio-grade sound to the consumer hi-fi market. With its clean silver faceplate, wood side panels, and precision transport, it appealed to both audiophiles and semi-professional users. Offering 3-head construction and high build quality, the TC-645 reflected Sony’s commitment to advancing tape technology at a time when reel-to-reel was still the pinnacle of home recording.
